For younger children I often tell parents that what is most important is a good relationship with a foreign language. I think we have all hated a subject in school at one point because of the teacher that taught it, and my primary goal is to have the opposite effect.
For children about to leave elementary school it can be extremely beneficial to be part of a group that meets once a week and enjoys a rich social experience that takes place in English. For these kinds of classes a group of 2 to 4 students who already know each other is ideal. Half of the class is focused on English as a school subject, with some reading, writing, and grammar. The other half involves pursuing interests, having discussions, and even playing games – all in English.
This may be just what your son or daughter needs, a chance to take a subject out of school and make it a part of their everyday life.
